Cutting vs. coloring vs. final finish

Cutting compounds remove scratches and oxidation. Coloring compounds develop shine after the surface is refined.

Do not jump to a final polish compound on a rough surface—you will burnish defects instead of removing them.

Pair each compound with a compatible wheel and metal. When in doubt, describe your metal and finish goal to a specialist.
